Revoke LDS Church 501(c)(3) Status

The letter of the law is clear. While I personally am not against churches supporting candidates, I don’t think any tax-exempt organization should be pushing a political agenda.

  1. Traditional religious organizations aren’t the only ones at blame here. 501(c)(3) organizations such as GLAAD contributed for the NO side in money and asked for votes.

I don’t know how this proposition came to be, but the real issue is that it should not be allowed in the first place. Marriage should be a contract between two people and their higher power or belief, if applicable.

  2. Agreed, the proposition should never have been created in the first place.
And, you are, of course, correct about GLAAD. However, I presume that the Mormon Church holds considerably more sway over it’s constituents than GLAAD over the general populace, so while in strict legal terms I agree with you, it would seem GLAAD’s role could be considered more informational – I could be wrong.
