Fire Spinner Convergence

Firespinner, Convergence

I recently did my first photoshoot per se that didn’t involve landscape as the main subject.  I was hired to photograph fire spinners.  What fun!  There are lots of creative things to do when main light is moving, but my prime objective was to be able to “freeze” the spinner while still having the fire make an interesting pattern. My solution:  off camera flash.  I’ve been reading David Hobby’s strobist site and highly recommend it for learning to use flash effectively.

Firegrace is a Tucson based fire spinner group and have given me a couple days of their time.  I’ll be sharing an image or two over the next few days. In this image, you’ll see Michelle, the leader of the troupe, and the convergence of the moon, Jupiter, and Venus.

You are reading a blog posting from the photographer Laurent Baig. Feel the wilderness experience.

  1. That is really cool Laurent! Greta use of flash – it looks like she is being lit my the fire – nice!
