Sunlit Cottonwood

I was lucky enough to turn around at one point on my hike out of the canyon and witness the rising sun on this cottonwood.  I was there just at the right time to be able to handle the light in a single exposure at 6:30 am, half hour after sunrise.  I typically do not photograph anything in direct sunlight after the “magic” time of a half hour after sunset as the light becomes very difficult to handle and, to me, is simply not very pleasing to the eye.  I really enjoyed seeing the hints of creek and seeing the cottonwood (populus fremontii) explode in color.
