I took Jade on her first backpack into the Mt Baldy wilderness in east central Arizona.  We hiked about 16 miles over 3 days to keep it nice and easy. Personally, I don’t like going much farther than 5-8 miles in a day.  This was the meadow which we camped over the first night and was about 5 miles in on the route.  Morning, a cup of tea, and pretty light make for the start of a great day as we hiked to the top of Mt Baldy at about 11,400 ft.

  1. Hey Laurent,

    That is a beautiful place!

I like your pace. It leaves plenty of time to stop, reflect and enjoy the hike. It’s about enjoying nature, not how many miles you can cover in a day!

    • Thanks, Ron. As a photographer, it definitely is nice to slow down. Still, on a personal level, it’s nice to slow down as well. We’re so rushed in our day to day lives, it’s really nice to take it easy!

  2. What a beautiful shot. I’m headed up to Payson this week-end. I need the mountains!
