It was really fun to see the 4×5 version of this image turn out so well.  I honestly thought I’d wasted the film.

You are reading a blog posting from the photographer Laurent Baig. Feel the wilderness experience.

  1. Stunning – Both this and the previous post. Looks like you had some great opportunities this fall. I really enjoy the color contrasts in this one.

    • Thanks, Joel. I have had some great opportunities. I feel fortunate to have been able to witness some spectacular scenes – some of which I felt able to photograph!

  2. Glad to see you took the time to bust out the large format despite the wind – this is a beautiful image, and probably looks even better at 4×5!

    • Thanks, Ron. When we first got there the wind was marginally bad. A couple hours later I had no choice, I would have broken. It was sure a fun time with some good people – Harley, Jade, Rick Dunn & Jennifer. I think the experience makes the image (for me) more than anything else 🙂

    • Thanks, Tero. Trying to learn to appreciate all forms of light, not just those “magic hour” moments.

  6. The 4×5 is so much nicer. I am glad you made it.

    • Thanks, Youssef. I only got 2 opportunities to really click the shutter and was waiting for the wind to stop knocking the camera around (as you’ve probably experienced. I was surprised it turned out as well as it did!
